Lesson Scheduling

Lessons are scheduled on a recurring weekly basis at a mutually agreed time.

The studio calendar is set at the start of each semester. Changes to the regular lesson time require advance notice and are subject to availability.

Students are expected to arrive on time. Late arrivals will not extend the lesson beyond its scheduled end time.

Cancellations & Makeups

Please provide at least 48 hours notice for any cancellation. This allows adequate time to offer the slot to another student.

Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice are not eligible for makeup lessons, except in cases of illness or genuine emergency.

Luba will make every effort to reschedule any lesson she must cancel, at a mutually convenient time.

Makeup lessons are offered at Luba's discretion and are not guaranteed. They do not carry over between semesters.

Tuition & Payment

Tuition is billed monthly at the start of each month, based on the number of scheduled lessons that month.

Payment is due within one week of the invoice date.

Tuition covers the reserved weekly lesson time and is not prorated for individual missed lessons (except where a makeup is provided).

Rates are reviewed annually. Students will be given at least one month's notice of any rate change.

Practice Expectations

Regular, focused practice between lessons is essential to making progress. Students are expected to practice daily or as close to daily as possible.

Recommended daily practice time varies by level: 20–30 minutes for beginners, 45–60 minutes for intermediate students, and 60–90 minutes or more for advanced students.

Quality of practice matters more than quantity. Students are encouraged to practice slowly, attentively, and with intention.

Assignments and goals discussed in lessons should be reviewed promptly and not left until the day before the next lesson.

Materials & Sheet Music

Students are responsible for obtaining all assigned music and method books in a timely manner.

All sheet music should be brought to every lesson. Digital copies on a tablet are acceptable provided the device is fully charged.

A metronome is required. A quality physical or app-based metronome is acceptable.

Pencils — not pens — should always be available for marking scores during the lesson.

Communication

The best way to reach Luba is by email. Responses are typically provided within 24–48 hours on business days.

Lesson-related questions, scheduling requests, and other communications should be directed to Luba directly, not through third parties.

For students under 18, a parent or guardian is encouraged to stay informed of lesson assignments and progress.

Recitals & Performances

Students are warmly encouraged to participate in studio recitals and performance opportunities as they arise.

Performance is an important part of musical development. Preparing a piece for an audience deepens understanding in ways private practice cannot.

Participation in recitals is voluntary, though strongly encouraged for all students who are ready.

Recording

Students and parents are welcome to make audio or video recordings of lessons for personal study and practice purposes.

Recordings of lessons may not be shared publicly or posted online without prior written permission.

These policies are intended as guidelines, not rigid rules. Luba values open communication and is always happy to discuss individual circumstances. If you have questions or concerns about any of the above, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
